Cold Welding Machine
Cold pressure welding is a method for joining nonferrous metals and alloys by applying pressure without the use of electricity, heat, fillers, or flux. Two key factors are crucial for achieving cold pressure welding: first, a certain amount of pressure must be applied between the workpieces, which is necessary for localized plastic deformation and atomic bonding in the metals; second, sufficient plastic cold stress must occur on the workpiece end faces under pressure, which is sufficient for welding to occur.
If cold pressure welding is performed within a closed mold cavity, even if the applied pressure is high, the metal will not be able to undergo sufficient plastic cold stress and will not weld.
Furthermore, in some cases, relying solely on pressure and plastic deformation isn't enough. Four factors are required: pressure, sufficient plastic deformation, the temperature generated by the plastic deformation time, and atomic diffusion. For successful cold welding, the metals being welded must possess significant plasticity at low temperatures. Therefore, cold welding of hard metals is difficult.
